How often an algo runs

An algo makes a decision every minute by default. Pick a longer bar in the builder’s Every menu to run it less often.

1mThe default. Decides every minute.

5m · 15m · 1hIntraday strategies.

4h · 1dSlower swings, fewer trades, lower fees.

In a script it’s one line, like every 1h. Add at 15m to run at quarter past each hour instead of on the hour.

How it behaves.

On the clockAn hourly algo decides at the top of each hour, UTC.

Holds in betweenEach decision stands until the next bar.

Part of the algoFixed once listed. A different speed is a different algo.

Backtests on longer bars run much faster. The launch gate still checks every algo minute by minute.
